Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Do you do only classes or only individual coaching?
A. I do both. I do leadership classes for organizations, and people who attend my classes frequently contract with me for follow-up individual coaching. I also do executive/individual coaching for people looking for their own personal development.

Q. How many people are typically in a class?
A. A range of 5-20 is most typical - although class sizes can be customized and adjusted based on needs.

Q. How long are classes?
A. Many classes are 1 day or 2 days in length - however that will be customized based on need.

Q. What is the format of the leadership classes?
A. Group sessions are highly interactive. There are exercises, small group discussions, presentations - and most importantly, every topic discussed ends with participants identifying individual action items to implement in their own situation based on what has been learned. People walk away from the classes with specific and measurable things they can execute to improve their leadership style, be more powerful and confident in their approach, make changes to create success, and have a vision of what they want and goals determined to make that happen.

Q. Do you provide the materials?
A. I provide the materials in electronic pdf format. Production of the materials is the responsibility of the client.

Q. How long have you been in the consulting business?
A. I have had my own consulting company, Solution Consulting, since 1997. Prior to that, I worked for 10 years with E.I. DuPont, where I was the Agricultural Products Division Training & Development Manager, which also included being responsible for Recruiting. My early career was 8 years in the Tech industry as a Product Specialist, Sales Trainer, and Project Manager.

Q. What qualifies you to be a leadership and executive coach expert?
A. I have almost 40 years of experience in the field - and have had positions in sales, product management, project management, leadership training, recruiting, and general management. I have clients in many different types of industries including telecommunications, data networks, banking, legal, non-profit, academia, sales management, medical, and more.

Q. Is Executive Coaching like therapy?
A. No. I am not a therapist. I am a coach who works with you to address professional and personal challenges, and/or to help you be more successful with what you are currently doing. We work in a partnership to establish specific action items that will lead you towards success - be that at work, changing careers, looking for a job out of college, transitioning to retirement, feeling stagnant in your current situation, needing a path for change - and much more. I am a certified Advanced Birkman® Consultant which allows me to use the Birkman Method Assessment® profile tool as an option to get specific information on how you work best, what your needs are, and how stress factors affect you working at your optimal level.

Q. What is the average age of clients?
A. There is no typical or average client for me. Each person is unique in his or her needs, and in the areas in which I work with them. I work with clients from age 16 through 70, from high school students struggling to graduate, to college students entering the work force, people wanting to change careers, increase their value in their current career and/or transition to retirement.

Q. What are your expectations of your clients?
A. With any type of leadership training and/or coaching, you have to be open minded and willing to take action. I expect my clients to commit to action items that we create together and they agree on doing - and to execute them within a deadline, which they set. No action item or goal is created without their agreement. The expectation is that they will work to accomplish it - or to let me know if they are running into obstacles and need assistance. This is a partnership - not someone telling you what to do. I am a guide who has valuable knowledge and suggestions to improve the way that you are managing things at work and/or at home which can have positive impact for you.

Q. Do you work with all individual clients who approach you?
A. Not necessarily. We have to both feel that there is good rapport between us. You have to trust me, and I need to feel that you are going to commit to the coaching relationship.

Q. Do you ever do any group coaching?
A. Yes - I offer a program called Catch the Spirit of Connection, which brings together a group of women for a year-long period. We meet once/month as a group and there is a strong individual coaching component as well. Participants feel it is a life changing experience in myriad ways - most notably the one on one coaching they receive, the camaraderie and support within the group, and the topics discussed each month that are then put into action items. Each person gets individual feedback and coaching from the Birkman Method® Behavioral Profile tool. Catch the Spirit is offered once a year and offered as a women only or men only grouping.

Q. What is the cost of your programs?
A. Since all corporate leadership programs are customized, there is not a set price for them. Average facilitation fee is $1500/day. Development costs range depending on the amount of customization that is necessary. I have several core leadership programs that can easily be adapted without any development fees.

Q. What is the cost of executive coaching?
A. Pricing is based on need and length of time for the formal partnership. Services offered cover a wide range, as does the pricing. All fees are freely discussed up front and there are no hidden costs. Relationships with clients typically extend well beyond the contact time on a hourly consulting basis, as a trusting rapport is created in all cases.

Q. What drives you to be in this business?
A. I thrive on bringing out the best in people. My brand is that I inspire and motivate people to maximize their potential. I strive to do that in all of my interactions. I offer practical advice, along with unparalleled support and encouragement for success. My clients say working with me has been life changing for them. I am honored to have the opportunity to work with people on skills and action that are as beneficial in the workplace as they are in home life.
